five holiday party tips

Holiday party season is already in full swing and the invites are stacking on our counters and our inboxes! We love this time of year but sometimes dressing for a holiday party can be stressful. What should you wear? Are sequins appropriate? Should I bring a gift? We have all been there but we come to the rescue with a few tips that we have learned over the years to help you get through the endless seasonal soirees without breaking a sweat!

1. You don’t have to resemble your christmas tree when dressing for a holiday party. Depending on the type of party you are attending, you may be able to get away with wearing dressed up denim (like a waxed denim shown) and a cashmere sweater for the occasion. Make sure to check the invitation first for dress recommendations but if nothing is printed, do not hesitate to ask the host. Better safe then sorry on this one!
2. Add sparkle to your outfit but don’t over do it. Everyone loves sequins around the holidays and we do too, but you don’t have to adorn yourselves in the sparkly bits to feel festive. Try pairing a sequin skirt with a chunky knit sweater for seasonal yet cozy holiday look.
3. Accessorize. A simple outfit can be elevated with a great necklace, earrings, bracelets and a killer handbag. Just don’t over do it when layering on the jewels. If you plan to wear a statement necklace, then tone down your earrings and choose a pair of simple studs.
4. Heels. A killer pair of heels can change an entire look. Throw on a pair of heels and your day-time ensemble is cocktail party ready in seconds, all by simply changing your shoes. If you are constantly on the run like we are, we suggest keeping an extra pair handy at work or in your car, you never know when you might get a last minute invite!
5. Never show up empty handed. Hosting a holiday party is hard work, so make sure you thank your host or hostess with a small gift. A bottle of wine, cocktail book, candle, or an ornament are just a few ideas that we suggest.
