October is here, which means crisp fall weather (or maybe not!), endless pumpkin spice lattes, and lots of new Helen Olivia workshops coming up for the season! To get you in the fall spirit, here’s a breakdown of our most popular holiday workshops that are just around the corner.
The Autumn Wreath workshop is a great way to refresh your front door décor for autumn. Students create grapevine wreaths and cover them with a smattering of dried flowers, berries, feathers, gorgeous fall ribbon, and fresh floral. Ever wanted to learn how to tie one of those perfect holiday bows? This is your class. In no time you’ll have a seasonal front door display worthy of a magazine cover.
Our Thanksgiving Tablescape workshops are so popular that this year we’re offering three sessions! Held the Sunday before Thanksgiving, we’ll help you to design a gorgeous holiday centerpiece in our signature lush style. Not hosting? Think of this as the ultimate handmade hostess gift.
In the Christmas Mantel class, our students get an opportunity to work on a much larger scale than usual—we spread out through the design studio, and each student makes a long, one-sided arrangement to display above their fireplace. Holiday music and spiced cider are always a feature of this class.
Our Christmas Centerpiece class is our last workshop of the year, and always our favorite. Before the Helen Olivia team goes home to our families for the last week of the year, we love gathering with our Alexandria neighbors and friends to help create beautiful centerpieces to anchor your holiday tables. Come craft something beautiful for your Christmas feast.

Outside of beautiful flowers, Helen Olivia is a destination for house plants, decorative pottery, and an endless selection of stylish front door wreaths. The shop is also well known for its weekly floral design workshops — come visit us and try your hand at flower arranging! Helen Olivia is owned by Chuck and Rachel Gang who are veterans of the bustling Washington, D.C., events industry. Both are D.C. natives, and reside in the Ft Hunt neighborhood of Alexandria with their son Jack.
