Design Trend: Textiles as Works of Art

One of our favorite current interior design trends is marriage between two of our favorite things — art and textiles! Lately, we’ve been inspired by so many hand-painted designs translated into stunning fabrics and wallpapers. We love the idea that your drapery, wall covering, or pillows can also function as a works of art.

WatercolorFlorals

The translation of mediums like watercolor onto screen-printed fabric can be simply breathtaking. Take these loose florals, for example. The pattern can bring substantial color into a palette while still maintaining a soft aesthetic.

Abstract Patterns

We’ve also been seeing some amazing abstract patterns that have a whimsical feel. They are great way to add a freeform layer to a design that otherwise could feel overly structured.

HandPaintedGeometrics

Another fabulous translation of artwork onto fabrics is hand-painted geometrics. While these designs still provide straight lines, the artistic freehand element allows for drama and feels less predictable.

And, of course, this trend had already made an appearance in the shop! How beautiful are these pillows in free flowing abstract pattern? Come see them for yourself!
