dc style factory goes neo-victorian
In July, our team styled a 13-page Neo-victorian-themed photo shoot for Northern Virginia Magazine. Our work is primarily one-on-one with clients, developing and refining real-world style for busy men and women. It was fun to step outside of our daily business and let our style imaginations run wild!
A lot goes into a fashion photoshoot, particularly one as extensive as this one with 13 looks. You want the looks to be cohesive and tell a story, but NOT be too much alike. Initially we did have too much black-and-white in our looks because that is what we found at local retailers that felt Victorian. It was mid-July — the Fall season not even upon us yet.
We ended up having certain pieces custom-made including the velvet full-length skirt above by debuting local brand TSALT. (Thank you, TSALT!) We also mixed and matched separates to create looks that felt in keeping with the Neo-victorian theme. (The orange brocade mini dress layered over a gorgeous cream blouse we dubbed Victorian “Clueless.”)
We also ran into weather delays (ie torrential downpours), which forced us to stay flexible and work quickly.
In the end, it all came together beautifully. I am so proud of our team’s hard work and talent.
