Christen’s Pop-Up Shop
Developing my own clothing line and learning the ins and outs of product development (with my mom!) has been both a true joy and at times challenging. One of the challenges we have faced is that we do not have a storefront. This was by choice, of course, as we are still a very small business. We expect to sell online exclusively for a couple of years before branching out into a brick-and-mortar. And even then I figure it will look quite different from a traditional boutique; I envision a studio space that is shoppable but also open to events and speakers and other artists. It might even include a small coffee shop corner with free-trade gourmet coffee. Anyway, I digress.
For those of you who don’t remember, back in September my mom and I launched our clothing collection, Threads by Nomad. Since then we have sold our clothing and accessories online only, and it has done quite well! But for the first time since our launch, we are actually setting up shop — a three-day pop-up shop in Crystal City!
Each year, the Crystal City Business Improvement District in Arlington, Virginia puts on an event the first weekend in February involving a runway show and boutique sale. This year Threads by Nomad was invited to participate. What does this mean? Well, it means not only will our garments be walking down a runway with other local designers but more importantly we will have inventory in every style in every size in every color available to those who attend the event. You will actually be able to see the garments, pay for them and bring them home for the first time!
We have received feedback from a number of our customers indicating that they wished they had an opportunity to shop the Threads by Nomad collection in person. This is your chance! In addition to our clothing, we’ll have a selection of clutches, scarves, and pillows, too. And if you spend $100 or more, you will get a free handmade mud cloth pillowcase of your choice!
