business casual broken down

Reader: I just started a new job. I need a whole new business-casual (no denim) wardrobe. What staples should I have in my closet?

Darby: Every woman in the professional field has the dilemma of looking professional and stylish. So here’s what we think you need:

– Splurge on your black pencil skirt. Find one like this black ruched Nicole Miller, perfect with boots or pumps.
– You will also need a neutral pant that isn’t black or khaki. These gray pants by Level 99 are a fantastic option.
– Classic tops include a French blue button up and a great v-neck cashmere sweater in “new-nude,” like these by Equipment. Take a more modern twist on the classic white blouse with this Bailey 44 silk/cotton combo.
-Killer pumps are always a necessity, but for a more casual environment and a commute-friendly shoe, we recommend a neutral wedge that goes with everything (Belle by Sigerson Morrison).
– Oh! And of course, a classic black dress for work events and important meetings.
– Finish all of this off with a pearl necklace that can be worn several ways and a long gold chain necklace.
