Blair: What is your favorite exercise?
Adrien, Fitness on the Run: In Wednesday’s article, Denise wrote about my own personal “10 Commandments” to staying healthy and strong. Then yesterday we discussed the Kettlebell Swing and 16 (and more to add) reasons why today is the day to start moving correctly for good. The Kettlebell Swing helps you do just that. Move better.
Asking me to choose my favorite exercise (we call them movements) is like asking a chef their favorite dish to prepare or an artist their favorite work of art. It is not easy. I love the plank and all of the varieties and how it has helped my core become stronger at 48 than it was at 18, 28 and 38. I look forward to pull ups because they simply are hard and I can do them – and correctly. I adore the deadlift because anyone from 8 to 93 can and should do them. It’s how we move all day.
However, if you have little time for workouts, if you want to get strong fast, if you want to learn “the thinking man’s exercise” it is hands-down the Kettlebell swing.
