Sarah: I am noticing more and more jeans cuffed instead of rolled. Is this trend changing?
Molly, Kiskadee: While cuffing one’s denim is technically a “trend,” it’s one that has been around for years and we don’t anticipate it going anywhere. Due to fashion’s favorite celebrities stepping out in their cuffed jeans, this trend has made a recent resurgence. As a result, more and more designers are making jeans pre-cuffed. The good news is, if cuffed jeans aren’t your thing, simply roll the jeans you already own. Here are some general guidelines to consider when donning your cuffed denim.
– Make it look deliberate. If you are rolling or cuffing your own jeans, you want it to look like you did it on purpose, not that you didn’t have time to get them hemmed.
– You can roll or cuff almost any jean, except flared/bootcut/bell-bottom jeans.
– Pair with any type of shoe—booties, sandals, flats, pumps—anything.
– Cuffed jeans are hip and cool, no doubt about it. That said, avoid cuffing anything for formal occasions, as you do not want to appear too casual or informal.
Roll, fold, cuff—rock it out!
