Is Airport Style Really a Thing? 4 Perfect On-the-Go Looks for Fall

Recently, vogue.com featured a piece on French airport style. Victoria Beckham’s outfits at JFK, LAX, and other global airports are papped and praised (see above!). Hashtags on a photo of an influential fashion blogger suggests she is a paid spokesperson for a European airport. One thing is for certain: Airport Style is definitely a thing.

To me, the reason celebrity airport style is now tracked so closely has everything to do with relatability.  When photographed in an airport, many celebrities showcase a practical approach to style that makes them seem more “like us.”  They pair pieces that are simple, flattering, and easy to wear in an interesting way — pieces similar to those we might wear. Kiskadee’s take on airport style is just that — mix simple and easy-fitting pieces that allow for comfort while not sacrificing your own personal style. And with these new fall transition pieces, your options are endless to achieve the balance between style and comfort on a travel day.

Summer’s Last Soiree

Flowy Top + Skinny Jeans + Oversize Scarf + Booties

Skinnies with booties is a go-to look for me. These Paige Mid-Rise Skinnies have a good amount of stretch, and provide some light control, too. I highly recommend them for women with a curvier bottom. Rolled a few times and paired with a slightly heeled, natural color bootie, this look is the perfect base for fall’s cozy capes and oversized sweaters. A flowy top and black and white scarf to wrap over your shoulders (in case the plane is chilly) completes this breezy look.

Fall Harvest Weekend

Bomber Jacket + Layered Tee + Silk Tassel Scarf + Skinny Jeans + Booties

Carried over from spring and summer, the bomber jacket continues to trend into fall and is shown over everything from lace slip dresses to jeans. Blank NYC’s satin version in a versatile neutral is one of my favorites. It’s more flattering than a typical bomber thanks to its less boxy cut and the strategic addition of well-placed zippers. The tee underneath creates a longer line, while the scarf pulls all the colors together and adds interest with tassels. Streamlined suede booties and skinnies finish the look and nicely balance the volume on top.

Girls Getaway

Tunic Dress + Layered Scarf + Long Necklace + Booties

Both Tracy, a sales associate at Kiskadee, and I love the way the muted colors of this look blend to achieve the perfect neutral early-fall color palette. This look is slightly elevated, yet still comfortable, and would be perfect when heading from the airport to a casual lunch with friends or family gathering. The scarf adds interest while also providing some warmth, and the long necklace’s beads and sizeable stone provide just the right amount of pop. The booties add a slightly unexpected twist when worn with a dress, as well as some height.

Business Trip

Wrap Dress + Suede Wedges + Tote

Many times our travel doesn’t take us to a tropical island, but rather to a different location where the destination is a boardroom. In order to easily transition from the plane to the office, consider the Milo wrap dress from Julie Brown. Its forgiving fabric doesn’t wrinkle, and the rich plum shade is one of fall’s most popular.  A moderate-heel Schutz black wedge wrapped around the ankle and black tote finish the look, and can even carry you through after work cocktails feeling comfortably feminine and appropriate.
