adding to your closet for spring

by Darby, Kiskadee

We have several different kinds of shoppers at Kiskadee. First, there is the over-prepared shopper. She comes in as soon as a new season’s lines start arriving with a list of the things she “needs” and never waits for any of it to go on sale. However, she is also purely practical and rarely splurges on anything “unnecessary.” Second, we have the trendspotter. This shopper comes in around the same time but is prepared in a different way. She is there to get a sense of what this next season’s trends look like and to start thinking about what she loves and what she doesn’t. She may not purchase right then, but she’ll be back in a few weeks to get that paneled leather shift dress in black and brown. The final kind of shopper (although I’m sure we could come up with more) is less concerned with having an of-the-moment wardrobe. She’ll wait until styles go on sale and then pick up whatever she is attracted to, without much concern of trends and holes in her wardrobe.

Truthfully, none of these shoppers is more successful than the others. They all end up looking great and put together. But whether you shop early or late, with intention or aimlessly, there are a few pieces you might want to keep in mind as you update your closet this spring.

Trendy Item: A full skirt. Also referred to as a skater skirt, but seen in thicker materials as well as midi lengths. Example: Kiskadee’s BCBGMAXAZRIA textured skirt.

To wear with white pants: A colorful tunic. This is always a must-have so why not invest in one each year? We love Kiskadee’s Amaya Tunics.

Dress: Something long and colorful like our Crochet Maxi Dress by Lilly. Pair it with a belt and a cute fedora to loosen up the prep factor.

Accessory: A scarf with a pop of color and texture! It’ll turn an average look into an “I know what I’m doing” look in no time.
