First Look: Fall Trend Report

How is possible that I’m already seeing sweaters in shop windows? It feels like summer has just begun, but as any fashionista would know, fall lurks just around the corner in “Fashion World.” While I’d love to think about white eyelet sundresses, I can’t help thinking about the grays and blacks that are to come! A rich, heather gray on a scarf or a deep dye on a pair of pants can really take an outfit to the next level.

Gray Denim

I am head over heels for gray denim this season. As seen on the runway at Isabel Marant, it is a fresh take on true blue denim, and can dress up an outfit in the way that indigo denim can’t! It is also perfect for the early days of fall because it is reminiscent of white pants, but as my grandmother would always say, “No white pants after Labor Day!”

With gray, you get the best of both worlds. These Jasmyn Mid-Rise Skinny crops from Joe’s Jeans has a raw hem, which is all the rage right now. On the right, the Icon coated mid-rise skinny ankle jean from Joe’s Jeans has a great sheen to it that pairs well with silks and sweaters.

Detailed Sweaters

These were all over the runway this season. There’s something nice about a sweater that lets you catch a bit of a breeze! Be gone, itchy wool turtlenecks! This One Grey Day Sweater is soft and stretchy, and perfect to layer on top of a tank. The cool lace-up sweater by Acrobat could be styled the same way.

Loose Knit Sweaters

One thing I love about a good loose knit sweater is that it really can be worn right now in the summer by itself and then later on in the fall as a layering piece. Right now we have some great sweaters by Wooden Ships that fit the bill. Whether you are looking for a tank sweater, a shrug, or a classic long-sleeved sweater, Coco Blanca has them all.

Fringe

The fun trend this season is fringe! This western staple is back with a vengeance, and is definitely not only for cowboys! It makes even the fanciest silk blouses casual and fun, and dresses up a soft white cotton t-shirt for a night on the town. I’m loving this Alana Hobo. It’s roomy and spacious and a great transition piece. Another favorite of mine is Stoja Crossbody by Brave Leather. The chain strap can be removed to turn it into a clutch.

Cozy Scarves

Of course, what is a fall fashion guide without a scarf in it? Unconventional knits in neutral colors were done on the runway at Christian Dior. That’s the nice thing about the scarf from Subtle Luxury. It is quite big, with asymmetrical sides, so it can be worn in so many different ways. Whether you wrap it, tie it, or twist it, the cashmere is soft against your skin and the neutral makes it easy to accessorize!
