2016 40 Under 40 Awards, Presented by EagleBank

[Editor’s note: On behalf of everyone at Stylebook, congratulations, Britt on a well-deserved honor!]

I am thrilled and honored to share information about the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce’s 2016 40 Under 40 Awards, presented by EagleBank, and the highly anticipated event that goes with it! Part of what is so stylish about Alexandria is its feeling that you can build on a historical foundation every day through business, innovation, and industry, and that industry and innovation is exactly what is highlighted in the 40 Under 40 awards.

This year, the Chamber launched the region-wide awards program to recognize emerging leaders under 40 years of age in our community. Individuals who live, work, or volunteer in the City of Alexandria could apply or be nominated to apply by their coworkers and peers. In a testament to how many inspiring and successful young leaders live and work in Alexandria, the Chamber received more than 200 nominations, leading to more than 100 applications. A selection committee evaluated applicants on their professional and scholastic accomplishments, community and volunteer impact, goals for the future, and lasting impact.

The forty individuals comprising this year’s list are engaged in a variety of fields, including business, technology, nonprofit management, civic life, public service, education, and the arts. They are top men and women who will have a significant effect on the advancement of our region in the coming years. The Chamber plans to use this year’s event as the beginning of a broader leadership initiative that will further engage awardees within the community.

Here are this year’s winners:

Normally, I don’t want summer to pass quickly. This year, though, I can’t wait for the end of July, because on Thursday, July 28th, event sponsor United Way Worldwide will host a celebration of the 40 Under 40 winners’ achievements. There will be live music, specialty cocktails from Mason Social, celebratory cigars, and a Winner’s Showcase. Then the fun will move to Mason Social’s after party! Anyone can attend, but the event is expected to sell out, so register soon here.
