what to wear: for nursing mamas

Dressing a pregnant body is tough, but you know what’s even harder? Dressing while you’re breastfeeding. Being able to access your milk-makers while in public without having to completely disrobe, inadvertently flash someone or show off your post-baby muffin top to the world requires very specific clothing. And, clothing made specifically for nursing is even worse than clothing made specifically for pregnancy. After 11 months of nursing, I’ve gotten the hang of spotting those regular pieces that will work for breastfeeding.

2015 3.1 Look of the Day

I’ve consistently noticed that whenever I’m in Kiskadee, I always spot a dozen tops that will work: open cardigans that can be layered over nursing tanks, blouses with buttons and stretchy tanks. These are just a few of the options they currently have in stock. The Tees by Tina tanks are stretchy enough that they can be pulled down for easy access. Layer them over your favorite nursing bra and underneath any blouse so when you pull it up you’re fully covered or as a layer underneath an open cardigan or button up blouse. All three of these blouses have buttons at the top for easy access without sacrificing style. Pair with your favorite white or blue jeans. Are there any other nursing mamas out there who’ve experienced these challenges? What solutions have you come up with?
