walton street stationers and a special spring offer

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Nancy and in 1999 I founded Walton Street Stationers in Old Town Alexandria. My company is named after my very favorite street in London, a charming stretch filled with the most wonderful shops. My objective is and always has been to bring some of that same charm right here to Old Town by supplying Alexandrians with a wonderfully edited selection of stationery and personalized accessories. Some of my lines are letterpressed, others are engraved and they include the line from London that did The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding invitations. From classic and elegant to fun and whimsical, there are so many possibilities–not only stationery, but calling cards, coasters, napkins, children’s stationery, notepads and gift tags and stickers!

Typically, I work by appointment only but this coming Saturday, on April 18th, Walton Street Stationers is honored to participate in the Old Town Garden Tour, a part of Virginia Garden Week. There are wonderful houses and gardens on the tour but I am particularly excited for the newest addition: a Marketplace of curated vendors located at the Athenaeum (201 Prince Street). Shopping at the Marketplace will be a fun way to help support Virginia gardens, and of course to take something special home with you.

I will be on site with wonderful things to pick up, and even more options to select from with a followup appointment. All set for spring and summer, I have stocked up on some of the best invitations you will ever find for every event you can imagine. From a Derby party (I am from Kentucky, after all) to a Gold Cup tailgate, to graduations, weddings and other seasonal festivities! Invitations are important. They set the tone of the event. And while an e-vite may be faster, everyone loves receiving a beautifully designed invitation on nice paper stock in the mail. I will also have lovely gifts for Mother’s Day. A personal favorite is a luxurious silk-covered box with letterpressed note cards from Haute Papier. The color choices are just yummy, and it is as fun to give as it is to receive.

Whether you are able to attend the Old Town Garden Tour and the associated Marketplace or not, I would love to help you find your way through the delightful world of stationery and personalized gifts.
