TSALT Staff’s Spring Favorites, as Seen in Their Favorite Alexandria Spots

With warmer weather tempting us over the last few weeks, we are getting anxious to slip into our favorite new, spring pieces here at TSALT. Our staff lives and breathes all things Old Town Alexandria, so we wanted to show off a few of our favorite places along with some of our favorite trends for the upcoming season!

The beautiful Old Town home of TSALT owner Tamara Saltonstall reflects her effortless personal style and is her favorite place to unwind after a busy day at the shop. Pictured above in her backyard, she shows us all how to transition black into spring and summer — by incorporating a print. Stripes, ikat, or a bold texture can transform black into an all-season must. The striped David Lerner dress is a true chameleon — wear it to work under a cropped Marie St. Pierre jacket like Tamara, or pair it with some lace up wedges for vacation. The printed Isabel de Pedro dress is another great option for spring because of its lightweight fabric and classic floral motif.

TSALT manager and buyer Sarah Felton is the queen of layering! Here she shows us how to upgrade your basic white denim by adding a fresh print, like this tunic from Pharaoh, and a distressed denim jacket, here by JET. Her earrings continue our obsession with bold jewelry and her Secrid wallet is working to keep her credit cards safe while she sips an espresso martini at Jackson 20.

Anne Fogle can be found at the Old Town Farmer’s Market every Saturday – rain or shine! She loves clean lines and classic prints, which is why this M.i.h. button-down blouse is perfect for her. Pairing the longer top with casual leggings, like this blue suede David Lerner pair, is a timeless option for running errands or meeting a friend for lunch. A layering necklace and fun shoes elevate this look even further.

When asked about her style, Amy Young will always tell you, “My husband Pete is my best accessory!” Since the duo likes to enjoy a pint at Union Street Pub after work, Amy keeps her style casual but tailored. The poet-sleeve Frame top she is wearing shows how a detail can elevate an everyday look. Again, this black top is perfect for spring when paired with a bold and colorful necklace, such as this one from Dannijo.

While the work week is all about the Alexandria Times for Jane Hughes, she likes to tap into her love of fashion on the weekends. She loves getting to know our TSALT customers and identifying perfect styles for Old Town. Here Jane shoes us how fun shoes and a patterned scarf can update a little black dress. Since the dress is 100 percent cotton, it’s breezy enough to wear through the hottest and most humid months!

As a newcomer to Alexandria, I try to take as many walks around Old Town as possible. I was instantly drawn into Killer ESP because of their gorgeous exterior, but I keep coming back for their perfect Americano. This season, I’m swearing off skinny jeans, but want to maintain a slim leg — which makes these M.i.h. ‘Marty’ jeans the perfect compromise. Paired with this bohemian top from the line Apiece Apart and bold earrings by Dannijo, I am ready for anyplace my walks may take me.

For a night out, you will find me wearing anything from one of our favorite lines: Natalie Martin. As comfortable as it is chic, these bright prints are absolutely perfect for vacation. I can say from personal experience, this wrap dress is fantastic at highlighting your waist and making your legs appear much longer than they actually are…

Spring for us here at TSALT means prints, new jean silhouettes, fresh ways to wear black, and bold jewelry. But, as always, we believe the most important style tip is to find what makes you feel the most comfortable and confident! These pieces can all be mixed and matched to make them your own and our staff at TSALT is always here to help. More spring styles are arriving daily so, word to the wise…be the early bird!
