time for mid-year reflections…do you like what you see?

Next week marks literally the half way point of 2015. Can you believe it? I was cleaning a room in my basement last week and found several Christmas decorations that didn’t make it into the official Christmas storage boxes. I actually wondered, “Can I get by with just leaving these out since it is now almost July?” If you are like me, and I know it is cliché, but it really does seem like yesterday when we were deciding how to celebrate New Year’s Eve and discussing changes (aka resolutions) we wanted to adopt in the New Year. Seriously, can time move any faster? But here we are and the mid-year point brings us a great opportunity ~ it is the perfect time to check-in and evaluate!

Take a good look in the mirror (or the side of the newly-washed mini-van as the case may be) and reflect…

Am I pleased with what I see?

How am I doing with what I wanted to make happen during 2015? Am I on-track?

Have I made some progress?

Is there anything I want to let go of in order to start, or keep, making progress?

Is there anything I want to add to compliment what I am doing?

Am I content / do I feel joyful?

Do I feel centered and grounded, knowing I can handle tomorrow with confidence?

If you answer yes to these questions, celebrate! And put your plans in place to keep going for the 2nd half of the year.

If you answer no to most of these questions, don’t feel badly. These summer months are a perfect time to recalibrate. I see and hear (& personally experience) all kinds of “I’m off track, I’m stuck, I’m on the hamster wheel” stuff – both big and little things that prevent people from creating the changes they say they want to make, or make those changes stick. The reasons for this are varied and personal. Sometimes, life comes hard and fast and we are dealing with unexpected circumstances. Other times we step away from our core values and life gets complicated due to our own choices.

Whatever the reason, there are a couple of things you can proactively do to heighten your chances of saying yes to the above questions come December. First, revisit your core values and ensure you are aligned with them. In addition, check the integrity and strength of your foundation.

Think construction and building and apply it to your own life…when you have a strong foundation, when you are sure-footed and can operate from a place of confidence, you are more likely to be able to adopt AND sustain changes you want to make in life and the by-product is living more joyfully.

Sounds good I know, but I also know that the phrase “inspect my personal foundation” can leave one feeling bewildered thinking “how in the world do I do that?”
I want to make it easy and fun for the readers of Alexandria Stylebook. Enter “The Clean Sweep.” The Clean Sweep is an often used coaching tool that helps everyone who takes it “inspect and shore up” their foundation. It gives you an approach and a framework and the end result is a clear picture of 1) where you are, and 2) tactical things you can do to help you get to that place of operating from a stronger personal foundation.

The Clean Sweep consists of short / quick questions divided into 4 categories:
• Physical Environment
• Well-being
• Relationships
• Money

The object is to check off as many boxes as possible with the end goal to have all boxes checked. This is a fun and insightful tool and I hope you take advantage of it. Download it, answer the questions and discover new things about yourself. You may want to share your results with a friend or accountability buddy and work through the process together. I am confident it will help you gain clarity, get focused and take some action so that you will LOVE what you see when you look in the mirror ~ or the side of the mini-van!

You can access The Clean Sweep by clicking here. Fill in the blanks with your first name and email address and the .pdf file will be sent to you right away.
