The Fluidity of Time

It’s hard to believe that summer is coming to a close, even though it has seemed to last forever this year. It’s funny how time can seem to drag on and on, yet it’s gone before you know it. The gap between how time passes and how we experience it has always been a curious thing to me. It’s also interesting how our concept of time varies with different aspects of our lives.
When it comes to fashion and our wardrobes, the concept of time is thought of more in terms of timeliness. Unless we’re feeling particularly nostalgic about that Bruce Springsteen t-shirt from forever ago, we usually want to be wearing clothing that is current, or timely, and definitely not “dated.” But we also love those pieces that are timeless in their design. We can wear them for years, dress them up or down, or add a complementary piece to make them look brand new.

1. Smythe Long Notched Blazer in Chalk. Original retail $595, on sale $178. This is a classic ivory silk blazer that is the perfect summer weight to layer over a sleeveless shell. Santorelli is known for its impeccable tailoring and this dress is no exception! This fabric is made for year-round versatility because you can pair it with a strappy sandal for the warmer months and then switch to a closed-toe pump when the temperature drops. This piece is an elegant staple that will always be “event” ready.
3. Cambio Rosa Pant in Black. Original retail $269, on sale $81. This tailored skinny trouser will instantly become a workhorse in your wardrobe. You can dress them up with a sleek sandal or pump and then turn around and wear them with a bootie or sneaker for a more casual vibe. The best part about this pant is that it is as comfortable as your favorite sweatpants, but looks like an elevated skinny pant with the front seam down the length of the pant. This pant is sold out year after year by Cambio and we know why!
