The Secret to Perfect Hair + Makeup on Your Wedding Day
Spring is finally here! For many of us this also means wedding season and for all of you brides-to-be out there, this means it’s crunch time for putting the final touches on planning for your big day.

Once the perfect dress has been chosen, it’s time to complete your look with a gorgeous hairstyle that will both complement your features and tie in with the style of your gown. For example, if your gown has a lot of intricate detailing around the neckline, we would suggest a simpler, classic up-do to show off your dress, but not overpower it.

If you have a dress that’s on the simpler side with an open back or plunging neckline, then we would recommend something a bit more ornate with your hair.

We also love the idea of a soft curl look that is worn down or half up as these would be perfect styles. If you prefer braids and have long hair, a beautiful bohemian all-braided look is another great option to consider.
The next thing to think about is your makeup. We usually suggest picking neutral and natural colors and sticking to a look where you feel like yourself, only a bit more glamorous! Of course if you are a fan of bolder colors and statement makeup then we say go for it as you will appreciate the finished product. After all, the key is to feel comfortable and confident! One point to remember is that your makeup should be slightly heavier than usual so it can show up in photos and last through the night.

Lastly, you may be wondering how do I go about making these decisions and turning my vision into a reality? We always suggest starting with a consultation at least a month before your wedding to allow for some experimentation with your makeup artist and stylist. The consultation will be a time to bounce around ideas, get the stylist familiar with your hair type and texture, talk options, and set up a trial. The trial is an appointment when we will actually do a full run-through of your hair and makeup to ensure you look and feel your best, and we can identify if any tweaks are needed. After that, all that’s left is looking beautiful on your special day!
