New York Fashion Week comes around twice a year, once in September and then again in February. Designers from all over the world travel to New York to showcase their newest collections and spectators clamor to the runways to see the next big thing. It’s always a thrill to see the newest trends hit the runway or to discover the next big designer all while being among fashion lovers just like you.

Last week, designers showcased their collections for Fall/Winter 2015 and we are pretty excited about what we saw walk down the runways. Trends like the fur/faux fur and the fringe craze will be sticking around another season, so make sure to keep those pieces handy. Also, we know ’70s inspired looks are going to be big this spring but it looks like they will also carry over into the Fall as well. We saw blouses with a victorian collars and sleeves, ’90s looking chokers, minimalist looks, menswear inspired styles and over the knee boots made an appearance in almost every show. A few colors you should watch out for are monochromatic whites, black and white combos, navy, pops of yellow, electric blues and Pantone’s color of the year Masala was seen heavily as well.

It may seem like next Fall is forever away but many of these trends can easily be incorporated into your wardrobe now. We are huge fans of the fringe movement and ’70s style and they are certainly trends that can easily be worked into your clothing and accessories now. So dig out your old bell bottoms and pair them with updated sweaters and blouses for a incredibly chic and ahead of the curve look.

Sadly, this season was the last for Mercedes Benz as the official host of New York Fashion Week. The fashion world is still unsure who will carry the torch this fall but you can bet the show will go on.

That would be MARSALA, the 2015 Pantone color of the year, the color of the fortified wine from Sicily!
