Last year, Lisa created a lovely website for us just before the pandemic hit. And, thank goodness she did! For the last year, our website has been our saving grace. We could not have made it through the year without it or you all. Because it was so instrumental to our business and folks really responded to the shop-online-pick-up-in-store model, we decided to go all in.  And go all in we did! We tapped the ladies at Aeolidia, one of the best Shopify developers in the country, who is known for their amazing work with small businesses.  They are responsible for the websites of makers such as Sugar Paper, Sapling Press, Rifle Paper Co., Lisa Congdon, and many, many more. It was a treat to work with them, and we are thrilled with the outcome.  One hot take, though, never take on a big project like this during your busiest time of the year like we did. Oof.

We went into this with our eyes wide open to the work ahead of us. Our new site has a few new bells and whistles, all of which need to be maintained and updated regularly. Two of my favorites are the ability to get an email notification when items are back in stock and the ability to pay for a purchase over time through Affirm. Featured products, new shoppable navigation, pretty pictures, a blog (that we are still working on, so more to come there!), Instagram feed, a fun ‘About Us’ section, entire pages devoted to our Design Collective, Trade services, and Custom Gifting, easy to access information about the store, and best of all, it’s mobile friendly. It’s all there in one very pretty new package.

We hope you love it as much as we do. Please take a look and let us know what you think! And, don’t forget to place your order today for the chance to win it for free!

PS: We are currently working on Penny Post’s website, so look for that just in time for the holidays!

  • The latest from Amy
Owner Amy Rutherford started Red Barn because she wanted to deliver a service — to provide both old and new in one place. No longer will busy shoppers be limited to reproductions or forced to shop multiple flea markets for the look or gifts they want. The trick in blending old and new, vintage and modern, classic and quirky, is balance. And Amy’s knack for mixing rustic antiques with urban chic has created a look that is both fresh and familiar.

Red Barn Mercantile opened its doors in September 2007 with a single vision in mind: providing old and new to offer our customers signature whole-room designs at great prices.

We’re more than a furniture boutique and provide more personalized service than a big box retailer. We work hard to bring you the highest quality furniture and gifts, the most unique conversation starters, wall hangings and accent pieces, whether they come from off-the-beaten-track flea markets, or the latest designers.
