Neighborhood Spotlight: Emerald Drive

Emerald Drive is a much-beloved and sought-after street in Waynewood. Beautifully situated on the backside of the neighborhood, it has some of Waynewood’s best model homes, such as the ever-popular Concord and Trenton models, and others that are one of a kind. Recognizing how special their street is, owners on Emerald often have extensive renovations or large additions done to their houses, preferring to expand rather than move on to larger homes in other areas.

A lovely home on Emerald Drive we sold a few years ago. Homes on this street are not available often!

We are almost positive that June and Ward Cleaver live on Emerald Drive. It is truly frozen in time and makes you so nostalgic for the good old days, with children playing in the yards and friendly neighbors walking and waving all day long. Though many houses have been remodeled over the years, they maintain the traditional look and feel of the neighborhood, so the treasured character stays the same.

It is difficult to pin down a range for the prices of houses on Emerald Drive because they are so vastly different and special in their own ways—and also because once people move to Emerald, they stay put!  Since 2014, five homes have sold for a range of $750,000-$1,200,000. People do not move out very often, so when something goes on the market, it is crucial to move fast. This is especially so on the Gold Coast of Waynewood, which consists of magnificent homes (many of which are custom) that overlook the Potomac River and feature fantastic three-season river views. The prices of these might far exceed the high end of the previously mentioned range, but it is hard to give an estimate because these come on the market so rarely!
