You Can Learn Pointed-Pen Calligraphy Right Here in Old Town
At Laura Hooper Calligraphy, we have been teaching calligraphy for six years and offer in-person workshops right here in our Old Town studio conveniently located off King Street near City Hall. The workshops are an ideal activity to enjoy with friends or family, or you can attend solo! We start at the very beginning covering the tools themselves before we even get into the writing, so zero experience is required.

So many students, just like you, have seen this beautiful artform but aren’t quite sure where to start or which tools to use. They grab an assortment of supplies from a big-box craft store or online and it doesn’t turn out how they’ve seen it online and think they simply can’t do it. But the truth is that it’s probably the incorrect combination of tools and lack of instruction that’s the problem – not your actual potential to do well with the art!
Our beginner workshops include all the high-quality tools you need to get started in pointed-pen along with hands-on instruction from not one, but two seasoned instructors! With over 20 years of experience in the art, and having taught over 15,000 students through our in-person and online courses, you know you are in the best hands for getting these tools to work for you. We use supplies curated to work well together giving you the best chance at success with this art and cover all of our best tips for continued learning and practice after class. Your registration also includes access to our 2.5 hour video tutorial following your workshop.
Can’t make it to the December 7 class? We offer a starter kit + video tutorial for at-home learning {also great for gifting!} and will be releasing our Spring 2020 schedule in mid-December.
