Going Postal with Wedding Plans

Intro_Old-Post-Office

Moving right along with my daughter’s January wedding plans, she and I were lucky enough to be invited on a hard hat site tour of The Trump International Hotel, where her wedding is going to take place in January, just six days before the presidential inauguration. Who knew Donald Trump would actually be the republican presidential candidate? When my daughter, Sarah, chose the Trump Hotel for her venue six months ago, we never even thought about the presidential election. She simply picked the first three-day weekend in 2017 for an ideal date for her winter wonderland wedding. Sarah wanted to find a historical building for her wedding venue that could accommodate a guest list of 250+. The Old Post Office Pavilion sounded great! And with Ivanka Trump’s sophisticated design sense, we were very excited to see her plans for renovating this historical building into a grand hotel while preserving the original structure of the old post office.

Once again, with my iPhone in hand, I decided this would be another great story to share with Stylebook as we met Sarah’s maid of honor, Casey Benson, along with the Director of Social Catering Sales, Rebecca Ventura, at 1100 Pennsylvania Avenue to tour the construction site of the Trump International Hotel. With our hard hats on, we entered the site and were amazed at what we saw…a mini city full of talented workers transforming the Old Post Office Pavilion into a gorgeous vision of grandness!

You’ll love the following slideshow of images we took, including the gold leaf application on the intricate moldings in the ballroom where Sarah’s wedding reception will take place. It’s hard to imagine that this hotel will be completed by September 12th, and that they’ve booked a September 17th wedding. But January truly holds the Trump card!
