get to know: lululemon athletica old town alexandria…coming soon–august 8th!

A note from the lululemon athletica Old Town Alexandria team:

For those of you that are new to us, lululemon athletica was established in 1998 in Vancouver, British Columbia (Canada). We have locations in Canada, the US, Australia, Hong Kong, and a new showroom in London! While we’ve grown quite a bit over the past 16 years, we are incredibly invested in being a part of our local communities and have many ways we focus on doing this. Further, each store’s team is made up of local yogis, runners, and athletes that are committed to their community, running a successful business, and to living their own best life.

Fabulously located on the Potomac River waterfront, we all know that Old Town is chockfull of fine dining, rich in history and the arts, and let’s be honest, it’s a fashionista’s couture haven. While our opening is still a week away, we have already felt what an extraordinarily special community it is and are so proud to be a part of it. Last Saturday, we coordinated with local design studio, Swatchroom and a few other DC area artists to create some very unique artwork! The artists were given a lululemon yoga mat, called The Mat, to use as a canvas, as well as the lululemon Manifesto (see pic below). The lululemon manifesto is a collection of fun quotes and sayings that we think inspire a long, healthy, fun life. The result was nothing short of extraordinary! To see what the action was all about, search: #yogapaints and #Swatchroom.

In addition to connecting in the community, our team has been spending lots of time together. We have spent hours learning the ins and outs of our technical fabrics and gear, gaining experience in other local stores, bonding over lululemon’s core culture of vision & goal setting and working out together all over town (from unpacking hundreds of boxes to getting our booties kicked from barre to yoga to CrossFit!). As a team and as individuals, we work together to constantly challenge ourselves and to be better each day.

As an extension of our team, we have a pretty amazing partnership with a couple of very local instructors, coaches and athletes, our lululemon Old Town Alexandria Ambassadors. We are already planning some fun in-store classes and experiences for you in the community. Stop in or tune into our Facebook page to get the scoop! Also see: www.lululemon.com/alexandriava/oldtown/ambassadors.

We can’t wait to meet all of you, our guests, and hopefully soon-to-be familiar faces.

Our mission: “creating components for people to live a long, healthy and fun lives. Every time you stop in, our goal is to make you feel at home, valued, loved, supported, uplifted, challenged, and leaving happier than when you first walked in.
