Our Favorite Oscars Hairstyles

The Academy Awards has become one of the top fashion events of the year and we love reading Stylebook’s best of post the morning after. But the success of a look goes beyond the dress. Here at Bazzak Salon the focus is on hair, so we wanted to give you our take on the successful hairstyles have stuck with us since the big night…and maybe one that wasn’t quite ready for the red carpet.

Nina says…

Hailee Steinfeld

This was my absolute favorite look from the night because it’s classic with a unique twist. It looks amazing from every angle with the elegance of an “all up” look and the double buns that add an artistic flare. It also compliments the natural shape of her face and head and it works perfectly with her dress.
Lily Collins

This look was a close second for me. It’s very old Hollywood meets new Hollywood and Lily pulls off this style very well. It is very neatly done without a hair out of place and incredibly shiny, but the best part is how amazing it ties together with her hair type and wardrobe.

Janelle Monáe

The singer, actress, and “Hidden Figures” star looked absolutely stunning from head to toe, rocking short curls with a beautiful gold, beaded headband. I absolutely love this style because she makes her short hair look feminine, yet sassy with a classic look. I love the versatility of short hair as it can be very edgy and stylish, but also graceful when paired with the right accessories. People may not naturally view short hair as sexy, but she definitely wears it well and with elegance.
Olivia Culpo

The former Miss USA and actress looked great in a sleek, slicked back pony tail with a deep parted graceful bang. The first thing I noticed was the fresh and clean nature of her whole ensemble. A ponytail can be dressed up or down, but I always feel a ponytail style works best when wearing a dress or outfit that already has an interesting look. It’s great way to look your best without overdoing it. Her look is also easy to accessorize as it is here wrapped with a long velvet ponytail holder.

One hairstyle that went home empty-handed…

Mimi Valdes

The producer behind the movie “Hidden Figures” definitely has an eccentric sense of fashion with her silver and purple hair. She graced the red carpet with a halo braid (basically a braid wrapped around your forehead like a headband). I thought it wasn’t the best look for the Oscars as it looks a bit immature and clashes with her dress. On the upside, the braid is very neat and her color is well done.
