Elizabeth’s Skincare Tell-All
Alright, friends, it’s been a long time coming. But today we start a short series on our personal cleansing routines. Buckle up, my dear readers, because this is a wild ride.
Sundays
I like Sunday skincare. Because I try to avoid working on Sundays, after church I usually come home and wash my face straightaway. This way, I can evaluate what my skin looks like it needs for the week, and use my extra time during the afternoon and evening to do more extensive treatment than I may on a daily basis.
I begin with my Micellar Solution to remove makeup. Following that, I double cleanse with an oil cleanser (Fresh Seaberry Nourishing Cleansing Oil is a consistent favorite) and foaming cleanser. I really like Dermalogica’s Special Cleansing Gel, which I have used solidly for about a year.
After patting dry, I love to do some sort of gentle peel, usually Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Daily Peel Pads in either Universal Strength or Extra Strength, and occasionally I’ll also use Dr. Gross’s Ferulic Acid + Retinol Peel Pads. I like to finish off the Sunday skincare regimen by using one of my favorite Patchology SmartMud sheet mask, then apply my normal skincare.
What’s my normal skincare, you ask?
All or Most Evenings
After doing my usual Micellar plus double-cleanse, I use a Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Daily Peel Pad every other day. Once I’ve allowed step two to dry, I apply either Rilastil Re-Sleep Night Serum or Maya Chia The Super Couple, and sometimes both. (I’m nothing if not thorough.) I follow that with Dermalogica Multi-Vitamin Power Firm Eye Cream, and cap it all with my favorite moisturizer du jour. This changes with the season, but consistent favorites are Dr. Dennis Gross Ferulic + Retinol Anti-Aging Moisturizer, Dr. Dennis Gross Hyaluronic Marine Moisture Cushion, and Mario Badescu Bee Pollen Night Cream.
All or Most Mornings
I keep my morning routine [comparatively] really simple. After using Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel, I mist all over with either Dr. Dennis Gross C+ Collagen Skin Perfecting Mist or Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs, and Rosewater. I allow that to mostly soak in before applying Skinceuticals CE Ferulic (my new BFF) and Skinceuticals H.A. Intensifier. I finish by using a tiny drop of Rilastil Progression HD Illuminating Eye Contour Cream and my favorite sunscreen, Alchimie Forever Daily Defense Cream SPF 23.
