#goals: Dewy Honeymoon Goddess

As many of you know, mostly because I’ve been telling anyone who will listen, I’m headed off to Portugal for my honeymoon. My honey and I have been anticipating this trip since we said our “I do’s” in early April, and I’m so excited to be mildly buzzed and super sun-kissed for the three weeks we are there. However, I must admit that I have had some anxiety about the toiletry situation.

As Elizabeth can attest, my daily skincare and makeup routine is not for the mild enthusiast. There is simply no way to continue my normal routine as we travel without something breaking or paying exorbitant overweight baggage fees. I’ve spent the last month curating my makeup and skincare down to some essentials in order to achieve my intended aesthetic for the month: Dewy Honeymoon Goddess.

Skincare

Cleanse, treat, repeat. The key to travel is multi-tasking products. I’ve packed our Rilastil Micellar Wipes, because I can use these day and night to wipe off dirt and makeup without worrying about a huge spill. At night, for extra removal, I’ll be using Dermalogica’s Pre-Cleanse in our cute, tiny travel size, and following up with the Mario Badescu Botanical Facial Gel. I simply can’t live without toner, so I packed another Mario Badescu product, Special Cucumber Toner, to help with oil control. Mario products are perfect for travel because of the plastic packaging and awesome price point. If something gets lost or broken, I’m not going to have a breakdown over replacing it.

Day and night I’ll be using Skinceuticals Phyto Corrective Gel. This bad boy helps soothe redness and irritation, a must when journeying to hot locales. It is, regrettably, packaged in glass, so I’ll definitely pay attention to where it ends up in my bag when it gets packed! Travel can also exhaust the skin, so I’ll definitely be taking my beloved Rilastil Re-Sleep Night Serum. The pump packaging is travel friendly, and the magic of this product is that it will trick my skin into thinking my sleep schedule is normal and not jet lagged. I’m finishing off everything with Fresh Rose Hydrating Gel Cream. This lightweight but intensely hydrating formula is perfect for skin that’s tired from travel and sun. Due to the Gel Cream’s lack of SPF, I will be taking my Coola Mineral Cucumber SPF 30 for the daytime. For a girl who routinely uses more than ten products each for day and night, narrowing it down to only eight for BOTH is quite a feat!

Makeup

If I were a different person, I’d have said “Tchau!” to makeup for this trip; however, my hot tamale-colored skin does not fit into my life plans. I still want to go for minimal and simple because who has time to do a cut-crease when there is seafood to be eaten? I’ve gotten the green and peach color corrector sticks from Smashbox. These are not only slim and easy to pack, but they’re also a cheat for the days when I get a little too much sun or wine. Once I fake it, I plan to make it with the radiant primer from Smashbox. This primer gives me the glistening, not-sweaty look I want. My foundation is still, of course, the Jouer Luminizing Moisture Tint. It’s just enough coverage to make me look even but not over done, and the extra SPF doesn’t hurt, either. For concealer I wanted something light and easy to blend, so I chose to include the Aqua Glow concealer from Stila. The luminous finish and tube packaging make it perfect for travel.

Finally, I’ll finish up with a cream blush and highlight. For this trip I’m bringing Smashbox L.A. Lights Blush Stick in “Laurel Canyon Coral” and the Smashbox “Pearl” Highlight Pen. The textures are so smooth and application of these is so easy — you could even do it with your fingers in a pinch. I can’t neglect my brows, of course, so I’ll be trying a lighter, softer brow with Brow Gal Pencil #6 and their Clear Brow Gel. To avoid smudgy eyes, I’ll use Blinc Mascara Amplified. The tubing formula prevents your mascara from running no matter how dewy [sweaty] you may be. For lips, I’ll just swipe on my Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment in “Honey.” The SPF in this nourishing balm protects my lips during the day while giving them just the barest hint of color. To pump up my look at night I’ve lined up my Stila Stay All Day Liquid Eyeliner Pen and Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in “Beso.” A cat eye and red lip never go out of style! I’ll been capping it all with a healthy dose of Mario Badescu Rosewater Spray…morning, night, on top of or underneath makeup.

Be sure to stop in and ask me how my honeymoon beauty #goals panned out when I get back at the end of July!
