Field Trip! American Field Is Popping Up Again
We were so proud to call Alexandria home when we opened the doors at our first-ever AF Men’s Shop last holiday season at 123 S Fairfax. Since day one, the local community embraced us and showed how much you valued quality over quantity, picking up a variety of independently made goods from our amazing brands we brought into the shop. The holidays went by in a flash and we were anxious for an opportunity to come back to the area to see our new friends and customers.
Fortunately, that time is fast approaching as this coming weekend we are back! This time we’re going to be popping up at Union Market DC for Mother’s Day Weekend (yes, it is a short drive from ALX but I promise it’s well worth it). What’s even more exciting is that this go around we will have almost 10 times the brands, including many women’s lines, making this AF Pop Up the perfect place not only to find the perfect gift for Father’s Day but also something to update your spring wardrobe.
When I founded AF back in 2012, I had the dream of completely redefining the shopping experience. I wanted to take the current chain shopping experience, which has become so impersonal, sterile, and generally not fun – and turn it on its head. To do this I started by scouring the nation for the coolest innovative and emerging brands, everything from men’s to women’s, pet to home goods, and even Maker’s Mark Whiskey (who will be serving complimentary samples this weekend). We then partner with original and authentic venues (Dock5 at Unionmarket DC) and create fun and engaging activities like food and cocktail tastings, leather restoration, and, most importantly, the opportunity to engage and interact with the passionate founders of the products that are being sold.
So, if you have even just an hour to spare throughout the course of your weekend, I would encourage you to take a nice spring drive over to Union Market where you’ll find tons of easy parking, walk upstairs, and immerse yourself in an experience that you’ll be itching to tell your friends about. It would make a perfect Saturday with the girls, or a great way to spend Mother’s Day with the family, and if you’re a last minute shopper you can get something Mom will really love. The event is free and open to the public and runs 11am-6pm in the 2nd floor event space at 1309 5th St NE.
